Workshops for December
Encaustic
basics FULL
Description: In this introductory class we begin with safety, the most
important component in learning encaustic. We address ventilation, correct
working temperatures, and the proper use of equipment. I will explain how to
make your own of encaustic medium and paint, appropriate supports and how to
make a traditional gesso ground. I will show you how to size a panel, the many
different ways to apply paint, fusing options, how the paint looks at full
strength versus glazing, and focus on how to achieve a smooth surface.
You
will learn how to treat the edges of your panels, control your work through
different fusing techniques, control your brush strokes and learn a variety of
methods of drawing into and onto your work. Techniques include incising,
filling, scraping, drawing and creating texture.
All
materials are included.
Though
I will provide with things you can bring if you wish to personalise your work.
