Sale Time

I am having a 20% off sale in my Etsy shop

There is currently 20% everything in the shop, Coupon Code Xmas20 but only till December 20th.

This is because on the 21st we are moving home.

and I am taking everything in the shop to the Denmark Markets on December 8th so if there is anything you like you best hurry coz the shop will be closed until Monday December 10th and who knows what will be left.

Of course if you can make it to the markets there will be loads of other stuff for sale that you might like, including a goodly selection of my encaustic paintings.

Echidnas

There is a great video of Echidnas here . They are just so durned cute!!!

Well, our sojourn in Albany is done, Dan is doing his last day of work today and then a whole 2 days break before we have to drive up to Perth for Xmas. I had thought that a month into our trip home we would be all relaxed by now, but as usual if it isn't one thing it's another.

But we do get highlights, like the delicious duck egg pasta I made the other night for dinner. My favourite. I just don't make fresh pasta with chicken eggs anymore as it is just not the same.Duck egg pasta is just so bouncy. Mind you I am not sure if that is the same for all duck eggs as we have muscovies which are not technically ducks, not even remotely related.

I have started some stuff in the studio, there is a dyepot happening  (of course) and I have been working on my collection of paper mache bowls, 18 of them have had an external coating of traditional gesso, several layers in fact and now I will begin to decorate them I might even take some and add them to my market stall and if a miracle occurs they may even make it to the Etsy shop coz that surely needs an update. But I do need to get my hands on a heap more beeswax. I have some coming to the next Demark Market but that is not till January 8th which seems along time to wait.

At least I have purchased all the xmas presents I am going to and they are wrapped (in recycled paper) under our titchy xmas tree.

Hope you all have a good one and I will see you on the other side.

Studio Business

Pictures from the button factory.
Yes I am in full swing now pumping buttons out fast and furious.

And this is the stockpile awaiting their trip to the kiln for their first firing. I will be doing a huge craft fair in October so am working on stock from now, having other markets along the way keeps putting dents in my stock but in a good way.
And this is a little fun distraction. Local artists were asked to contribute a little something for a fundraiser for our local arts cooperative. We were each given a 8" x 10" board to work on and they were all for sale for $50 each but the names were on the back so in theory you didnt know who's you had till after purchase.
I worked on two pieces above and below only choosing at the end my preferred piece to glue on the board.
In the end this one went off to the sale last night and yes it sold reasonably quickly and I spoke to the purchaser who was very happy with her buy. This is a work in progress picture not the finished piece of which I will put up a photo tomorrow when my partner brings the camera back!!!
Both pieces are plaster bandage the lower one is adhered to hession with a piece of stitched cotton in the centre and then painted with milk paints. More layers I might add then can be seen here. I then coated the whole piece in hot melted beeswax to protect it and give it a wonderful luminosity.
And these are just a couple more in progress on the bench.
