Well I have to admit I have been having

a rather nice relaxing time at home

Since the retreat finished

some weeks ago

There was a trip outto the Markets over Easter

where I sold 3 encasutic Paintings

Have enjoyed the odd fabulous sunset

Been enterrained by these cockatoos

they come down a few at a time

to drink from the duck pond

But there were many more in the trees

awaiting their turn

there were at least 50 of them

if not more and at one point I was surrounded

by them

and they are not quiet birds

Trips to the beach

The top one is milk paint

 the bottom is egg

Bought myself a collection of

Carla Sonheim's books

and I am having a lot of fun

making silly drawings

and another one

Luscious texture

all natural of course

This is Myrtle

I made her many years ago when I was at Uni

She is a piece of leather which I stretched over a stone

Obviously pre natural days!!!

She has recently moved to the deck

because

things are happening

a new wall going in

Here you can see what used to be out front door

But now it will be the new bedroom door

Yay more room

Well thats what has been happening around here

I will try to update a bit more frequently

Excitement in the Studio

My first plaster piece.

Plaster on wood, soy paint, oil stick, paper, ink, encaustic

Yesterday a wonderful woman called Katherine (now theres a name fraught with the dangers of misspelling these days) came into the studio and picked out 6 pieces of my work.

Gesso on craftwood, leaf skeleton, paper, gum resin, encaustic

And bought one immediately.

and put the others aside to pick up today.

which was just as well really otherwise I would have no photos at all.

as I don't have a photo of the piece she needed to take with her then and there.

It was a very simple piece, gesso on a found piece of craftwood with three scratched lines down the centre, on the left upper area there was the Ogham symbol for Phogos which is the beech tree and is about looking back to the past, in the middle of the right side was a small picture of a Goddess statue and down the bottom right corner text that said remember. All finished with a lovely coating of beeswax.

All in all a very satisfying day.

Red Spot

You really have to love it when one of these little babies turn up. So exciting to go and view an exhibition and find one of these. This is currently on at Open Drawer though I believe it finishes today. So tomorrow it will be packed up and off to it's new home. Just as well I am not sentimental.

Sold

I told you on the old blog ( which I will put in a link to. I promise, well sometime) how two of my little paintings sold in the exhibition, well it closed yesterday so it was payday and as an extra added bonus a third painting sold so I trippled my money. Oh yes I could grow to like this. Getting paid for something you really enjoy doing. Now that is money for jam.
